Fred Wildemann, 90, of Forest, Va., passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 2, 2021, in Lynchburg, Va. He was born on February 7, 1930, in Indianapolis, Ind., the son of the late Frederick Andrew and Rilla Anita Wildemann.
Fred is survived by his wife, Kathryn Carwile Wildemann of Forest, Va.; a daughter, Theresia A. Teague of Madison Heights, Va.; granddaughters, Christina G. Humphries and husband, Kenneth, of Montebello, Va., Brianna C. Teague of Bel Air, Md.; grandson, Brandon S. Teague of Chesapeake, Va.; sister-in-law, Peggy Stinnett of Lynchburg, Va.; niece, Myra-Beth Trent and husband, Kevin, of Brookneal, Va.; along with a number of nieces, nephews and cousins, most living in West Virginia.
He was predeceased by a sister, Marjorie Jennings of Ft. Ashby, W.Va.
Fred served his country for four years in the Army of Occupation in Germany. On completion of his military service he attended West Virginia University under the GI bill where he earned his Pharmacy degree. He practiced his profession for 42 years, during which he belonged to numerous professional organizations before retiring from Rite-Aid Corp.
Fred was an active member of Elks Lodge No. 321 where he was a long-time volunteer for Friday Night Bingo. His Elks membership spanned over 65 years. He was also a member of Masonic Lodge No. 136, White Sulphur Springs, W.Va., for over 50 years, and belonged to Lynchburg American Legion Post No. 16.
Fred loved the outdoors and spent many hours tending to his yard and flower gardens. He was also an avid reader and enjoyed relaxing with a good mystery.
Fred attended Chestnut Hill United Methodist Church until health issues no longer allowed him to. Fred’s family will miss his strength and quiet love, guidance and care.
In accordance with Fred’s wishes visitation will be for family only and services will be private.
