Due to COVID-19, all neighborhood-based blood drives for Huntington Hospital have been canceled, yet blood is desperately needed. As a result, the hospital and the Lake Avenue Church’s Health Outreach Ministry Team are hosting an all-day blood drive for weeks starting on Monday, October 26, through Friday, November 6,  at the Huntington Hospital Blood Donor Center.

The Blood Donor Center is at 800 S. Fairmount Ave. in Pasadena, and is open to receive blood donors, by appointment only, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 7:30 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. Fridays.

To make an appointment to donate blood, call (626) 397-5422.

These blood donations will make a big difference for patients at the hospital, but there are certain things you should know before you donate blood:

All safety protocols are carefully followed from sanitizing pens to beds and maintaining social distancing. All staff and donors are required to wear a mask; if you don’t have one, they will provide it.

By accepting donors by appointments, staff at the Blood Donor Center are able to spread out the donors evenly throughout the day. To prepare to donate, eat, drink water, and bring your driver’s license.

Validated parking is available on Bellefontaine Street.

For more information, visit www.lakeave.org/events/annual-blood-drive?evid=2663.
