STEVENSVILLE — Captain Rich Schott, proprietor of Chesapeake Bay Sport Fishing LLC, has been running a fishing charter boat service for the past 17 years. He currently has the largest private fleet used for sport fishing on the Chesapeake Bay.
Among his six sport fishing boats, three years ago Schott purchased a 60-foot boat, named Seafood. The boat was the authentic vessel used in the comedy movie “Caddyshack,” starring, Bill Murray, Chevy Chase, Rodney Dangerfield and Ted Knight. This year, 2020, marks the 40th anniversary of the movie.
Schott said, ‘It was an impulse buy for me. The man who owned it had purchased it with the intention of restoring the boat. He died before the work could begin, and the boat was tied up in his estate. That’s where I got it from.”
Schott had the boat completely restored and has been using it exclusively for cruises, tours, bachelor parties and birthday parties.
Arrangements can also be made for overnight stays on the boat, which has three separate bedrooms, as well as a kitchen galley. The bedrooms have framed autographed photographs of the actors from the movie. There is also a life-size poster of Rodney Dangerfield guests can have their picture taken with during parties.
All of Schott’s other boats are used for fishing excursions on the Chesapeake Bay. All of the boats operate out of the Queen Anne Marina, which is located in the Queen Anne Colony community off Route 8 on Kent Island.
